Descripción de producto

Customised Upon Request Flexible Packaging Film Rolls with 2/3/4 Layers and 50micron - 200micron Thickness
What are Flexible Packaging Film Rolls?

Flexible packaging film rolls are large, continuous rolls of multi-layered plastic, foil, or paper-based materials that are used as the raw material by converters to create a vast array of packaging solutions.

Think of them as the "fabric" that is later cut, printed, and sewn into the final "clothing" for products. These rolls are supplied to manufacturers who then convert them into:

  • Pouches (stand-up, spouted, three-side seal)
  • Bags (for snacks, frozen food, pet food)
  • Sachets (for ketchup, shampoo, coffee)
  • Flow Wraps (for candy bars)
  • Lidding films (for yogurt cups, trays)

What Materials Are Used?

No single material can do everything, so they are combined in layers to achieve specific properties. Here are the most common materials:

Material Full Name & Common Name Key Properties & Primary Role
PET Polyethylene Terephthalate (Polyester) Strong, stiff, glossy, excellent print surface. Used as the outer layer.
BOPP Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene Stiff, crystal clear, high gloss, moisture barrier, cost-effective. Common outer layer.
PE Polyethylene Excellent moisture barrier, flexible, sealable. LDPE is a common sealant layer. HDPE is stiffer.
CPP Cast Polypropylene Good clarity, excellent heat resistance. Used as the inner sealant layer.
RCPP Retort Cast Polypropylene A special heat-resistant CPP. Used as the sealant for packages sterilized in an autoclave (retort pouches).
PA Polyamide (Nylon) Extremely tough, puncture and abrasion-resistant. Used as a middle layer for heavy-duty products.
EVOH Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol Exceptional Oxygen Barrier. Its weakness is moisture, so it's always sandwiched between other layers as a middle barrier layer.
AL Aluminum (Foil) The ultimate barrier. Impermeable to gases, moisture, and light. Used as a middle layer.
VMPET Vacuum Metallized PET PET with a thin layer of aluminum. Provides a good gas & light barrier at lower cost and more flexibility than foil. A middle barrier layer.
Metalized BOPP/CPP - Provides a decorative metallic finish and enhanced barrier properties.

Common Film Structures (The "Layer Cake")

The power of flexible packaging comes from combining these materials into multi-layer structures. Each layer has a job:

  • Outer Layer: Provides strength, rigidity, and a printable surface.
  • Middle/Barrier Layer: Protects the product from oxygen, moisture, light, and aromas.
  • Inner/Sealant Layer: Provides a hermetic seal and is safe for food contact.

Here are typical structures for different applications:

End-Use Product Typical Material Structure Function of the Layers
Potato Chips BOPP / VMPET / PE Print/Gloss / Oxygen & Light Barrier / Seal
Retort Meal PET / AL / RCPP Strength / Ultimate Barrier / Retortable Seal
Frozen Vegetables PET / PE Strength / Low-Temp Seal
Shampoo Sachet PET / AL / PE Strength / Leak & Moisture Barrier / Seal
Fresh Meat (MAP) PA / EVOH / PE Puncture Resistance / Oxygen Barrier / Seal
Coffee Bag PET / AL / PE Strength / Aroma & Oxygen Barrier / Seal

Common Applications

Flexible packaging film rolls are used across virtually every industry:

  • Food & Beverage: The largest application. Includes snack foods, frozen foods, coffee, pet food, fresh produce, sauces, and retort meals.
  • Medical & Pharmaceutical: Sterile medical device packaging, pharmaceutical blister packs, and diagnostic kit pouches. Demands high barrier and sterility.
  • Personal Care & Cosmetics: Shampoo and conditioner pouches, lotion sachets, and wet wipes packaging. Requires leak-proof and high-quality print.
  • Household & Industrial: Laundry detergent refills, agrochemical bags, and ESD-shielding bags for electronics.

Key Advantages of Flexible Packaging

The shift from rigid packaging (like glass and metal cans) to flexible formats is driven by significant advantages:

  1. Lightweight & Resource Efficient: Uses significantly less material than rigid alternatives, reducing the source material, weight, and cost of transportation.
  2. Superior Product Protection & Extended Shelf Life: Advanced barrier structures protect against moisture, oxygen, light, and contaminants, keeping products fresher for longer.
  3. Cost-Effective: Lower material usage, reduced shipping costs (lighter weight), and higher production efficiency (more packages per roll) lead to overall lower costs.
  4. Design Versatility & Brand Impact: Offers excellent print quality, high gloss, and metallic finishes for strong shelf appeal. Can be made into convenient shapes like stand-up pouches with re-sealable zippers.
  5. Convenience & User-Friendliness: Features like easy-open tabs, spouts, re-sealable zippers, and lightweight, portable formats are highly valued by consumers.
  6. Sustainability Potential: While a complex issue, flexible packs have a lower carbon footprint in logistics and production. They are also increasingly being designed for recyclability, and advanced recycling technologies are emerging.

In summary, flexible packaging film rolls are the engineered, multi-layered "raw material" that form the basis of modern, high-performance, and efficient packaging for a massive range of consumer and industrial products.
